Well, Myron, as a "rural" person who does need to haul things (horses and bovine primarily) I was originally going to agree with you, until I realized that the biofuels industry subsidies are going to run me out of business (no feed left as it'll all be converted to fuel) coupled with all the "smart growth" insanity will force everybody to live in the "projects" and there won't be any "rural" folks left. Obviously (me hopes) a little tongue in cheek this morning, but it shows the absurdity of the programs.

And another thing: the Congress passed, Bush signed, and Obama is implementing higher fuel economy standards that are going to price most buyers out of large cars and trucks and into smaller ones. Most urban and suburban people can adjust, but for rural people who need to haul and tow things, this is going to be a hardship as well as an infringement of our liberties.

Besides light bulbs, this is another area I'm ticked off about. This Administration's actions have been very anti-family. As a mom of five, I've driven a minivan and now have a SUV that seats eight. The prices of large cars, i.e. minivans and SUVs, will go through the roof with the new miles per gallon CAFE standards. And his Cash for Clunkers took off the road the clunkers I had hoped my teens would be able to afford. Don't these people have children and need to transport kids and soccer equipment and groceries and Christmas trees all in one trip?
