Not sure if this is pointless or comical. First, as a citizen I have a right to petition my representatives, and any representative. And I can do so as a group of citizens, and "hire" a person to represent my case. Hence, a lobbyist. If you elimina…

Well, a Judge cano render a decision, but the written opinion describing the decisions is what has the impact. A poorly written opinion will narrow the scope of the decision, be little used as a precedent, and, eventually, be overturned by clearer h…

Sen. Graham may title himself a conservative if he so wishes. From what I see of the Republican party leadership, they are merely slow progressives. Essentially, if one can meet three of 5 positions on major issues, one can style themselves whatever…

Bipartisanship in the House Foreign Affairs Committee has cooked Turkey. The committee, acting on House Resolution H. Res. 252: Affirmation of the United States Record on the Armenian Genocide Resolution, has passed the resolution with bipartisan s…

Judge Liu on the 9th circuit will have no impact, for the 9th is already very liberal. And if he is nominated and confirmed to the Supreme Court, he will also have no influence for he lacks the necessary judicial gravitas. The problem with putting…

Oh, much further in debt. And when your debt reaches your GDP, this is, at a minimum, a psychological tipping point. Internal debt, such as borrowing from the social security fund, costs less to service, and you have some leeway in skipping payments…

The difference is a gun is designed to kill. What is not understood or even discussed, is that this is a good thing. I can pass a law guaranteeing for all the ownership of any kind of gun, including fully automatic assault rifles. Then I pass a law…

Sen. Bunning is not seeking re-election because the GOP believed he would lose the seat, based on polling (Bunning polled poorly). With Bunning gone, the GOP has a chance to keep the seat from the democrats. Does providing a more viable candidate (a…

Agreed. The problem is that when entitlements are born, people are taught to accept them and that they are not bounded by time. We need to define exactly what a safety net is, and where it lives. And insure that people know if they fall into the ne…

Your position, "..rather than demand that we receive our due, no matter what the cost to our country, we must take the lead and concede that the entitlements must be reduced." neglects the other option: wich is to pay more so that those who have g…

Rein in the EPA: not possible until there are less than 36 democrats in the Senate. This will require a major make over of the EPA through legislation. Use of the ESA to curtail construction: not possible until the federal judiciary gets a major re…

I read the WSJ version and the AFL/CIO version. This actually started in 2006. Where in the heck were we? This is perhaps the single scariest story I have read of in some time. And from the union site: "Michigan parents, such as Jomita Reeves, a…

Man, "Play Misty for Me" is one of the best films ever. One of the greatest knockout punches ever thrown by anyone in a film. But I object to a comparison of Speaker Pelosi to Jessica Walters. Ms. Walters was one good looking woman. She played Herb…

Pres. Wilson and Pres. Obama: Many Similarities

There are many similarities between Presidents Wilson and Obama. The striking preponderance of the Ivy League academic background being foremost. What is the most intriguing is the strong conviction of their opinions. Once Pres. Wilson came to believe he was correct, no other opinion was tolerated, and in fact, those who held other views are demonized as being immoral or worse.

Republicans Continue to be Lost

The RNC is holding their yearly meeting in Hawaii on Waikiki Beach at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. While Hawaii is a state and, normally, a valid place for a government meeting, in todays economic and political climate, it is a bad decision.

Detroit would have been a good choice, as would have Omaha or Sacremento.

The choice of Hawaii, and it was made many months ago

"“It’s dumb, but it’s a sidebar,” said longtime GOP consultant Mike Murphy. “I’ll take a dumb meeting in… Continue

Why is it wrong to believe?

Tim Tebow, the much decorated quarterback from the University of Florida, will appear in an advertisement during the Super Bowl next month. He will appear with his mother and the ad, all of 30 seconds, will touch on Pam Tebow’s ignoring the advice of doctors to abort her pregnancy, the one which resulted in Tim.

For this effort, Tim Tebow is being excoriated on the liberal blogs, the Huffington Post being a less vicious example. But the anger goes beyond the issue of abortion, and revolves arou… Continue
